Sharad Purnima, also called Kojagari Purnima or Raas Purnima, is the full moon night in the month of Ashwin. It is believed that the Moon is at its brightest and most nourishing, and it is associated with Lakshmi, who is said to ask who is awake (ko jagarti).

Families cook milk-and-rice kheer, keep it under the moonlight overnight and eat it the next morning as prasad.
