Ishant Sharma |
Ishant Sharma, born on Sep 02, 1988, Delhi, is referred as one of few future super stars in Indian cricket team. This young promising bowler is well-known for his height. He is the tallest player in India team with 6’4” (192 cm) height. For his height he is called “Lambu” by his team mates. His physique and attitude compare him with former Indian pace bowler Javagal Srinath. However, he started his international career at the age of 19 with the second test match against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in 2007.
He has become successful to prove his talent against Australia during the 2007-08 Test series and become a permanent player in the team India. In this article, I am going to give some information about this tall fast bowler who is the main attraction of the Border-Gavaskar test series. No doubt, Australian players should fear to play against him in the on going series.
• He made his debut against Bangladesh but he caught the attention in Australia tour. Australia’s former captain Steve Waugh prompted him to call the next best thing in Indian cricket.
• He is impressing with his fast bowling ability in the limited over game clocking around 150 kph.
• He has taken 23 wickets in 9 tests at an average of 36.21. He is chosen as a permanent player in all forms of game.
• He made his ODI debut against South Africa at Belfast on June 29, 2007. For his team, he has played only 17 ODIs while he has taken 22 wickets.
• He earned his first call in Test cricket tour of Bangladesh as a replacement for the fast bowler Munaf Patel, who was left out of the squad because of injury.
• However, tall height is the bonus point for him to move the ball in both sides and bowl at around 140kph.
• He is the fastest bowler in India team after being bowled at 152.6 kph (94.8 mph) Adelaide against Australia on February 17, 2008. Previous record was hold under Ashish Nehra who bowled at 149.7 kph against Zimbabwe at World Cup 2003. He was just 0.2 kph short of Ashish Nehra being fastest bowler in India when he bowled 149.5 kph. However, it took just seven days to break the record.
He is Virgo by his zodiac sign. His lucky colours are green and lavender and his
lucky numbers are 2,9,18. For Ishan, this year is going to be wonderful in his personal as well as in his professional life.
